As I’m writing this, I’m currently two weeks away from leaving my apartment here in Barcelona. So many mixed emotions run through my mind and heart. And so much stress regarding the moving out itself.
How many boxes to buy. What to sell, what to give away? And what to let go. Moving is so stressful!
The good news is, that we have found an apartment in Madrid already! And we are so excited about it!
It’s time to move into a new chapter of my life, as a person, as a professional and as a couple. So I’m really looking forward to seeing what the future hold for us.
Anyway, the purpose of this post is to update you guys on my current situation and to vent. All this stress has to come out somehow.
The only thing that motivates me right now, is scrolling through Pinterest to get new ideas, making my IKEA shopping list, and all that good stuff. So many possibilities.
As you all know, I’m very minimalistic, so probably most of our stuff will be white, black and beige. Maybe a touch of green (plants), and maybe even pink (a cushion or something). That’s how far I’m willing to go, lol.
Being used to big spaces back in Mexico, coming to Spain was really shocking. Because the houses here are really small. Of course, it depends on the budget, but there aren’t any houses in the city, actually. Only flats. And believe me when I say, spaces can be smaller than you’ve ever imagined.
When I first came here, I lived with my cousin and a friend. After a year I moved by myself into a really small studio flat – the apartment I’m leaving right now -.
It’s funny actually, I always complained about how little my flat was, and now that I’m moving out, and putting everything in boxes, I realized “If I was able to store all this stuff, then maybe it wasn’t that little after all”.
On the other hand, our new apartment is an entirely different story.
It has a lot of light, which was one of the main things I was looking for. Guest bedroom, main bedroom with dressing room, living room, kitchen, bathroom.
I have the space to own a couch now! You have no idea how excited I am to be moving into that apartment. And of course, I will share some pictures once we have it ready!
